Tipplasty is an operation used to eliminate the deformities in the nose tip without touching the septal cartilage and nasal dorsum. In tipplasty, postoperative recovery period is shorter than the recovery period in rhinoplasty, edema and ecchymosis are almost negligible. You don’t feel any pain and the duration of surgery is quite short. The operation can be performed under local or general anesthesia. It takes nearly 30 minutes. Surgery is usually performed without using nasal packing. If nasal packing is necessary, it should be held within nose maximum 2 days. Usually external nasal splint is not used. The recovery of nasal tip edema takes longer time than that of the other parts of the nose. After removal of the plaster and nasal packing, massage can be recommended if necessary.
In rhinoplasty operations where tipplasty fails, even if the other parts of the nose seems well, the nose will not seem aesthetically as a whole. Briefly, nose generally seems like how nose tip seems. If the tipplasty is not performed properly, it also causes breathing problems.
Tipplasty can be done in such cases; asymmetry in the nostrils, ptotic nose, large or small nostrils and wide alar base. The operation, which is performed to ensure visual integrity of the nose, is also important in terms of functional properties. For example; The droppy nose deformity makes face expression torvous and causes breathing problems. The angle between the upper lip and the nose is approximately 90 degrees for men and 105 degrees for women.
In some noses where the nose appears to have problems only at the tip of the nose and other structures of the nose are perceived as normal, the problem is not only at the tip of the nose, but also the other parts of the nose are needed to be operated. This can only be understood by careful analysis.
As in rhinoplasty surgeries, a detailed analysis should be done in tipplasty operations. Personalized surgical planning should be done since everyone has different nose and face structure. Surgery should be planned by discussing with the patient.
